Using traditional applique work and cloth as their paint and canvas, women artisans of a community in Kutch make one-of-a-kind pieces to tell their stories, experiences, and sometimes hardships. Applique is one of the oldest art forms in the region of Gujarat, India.
This piece is made by Megiben. Here, she illustrates the effect of rain, as well as the value of water in their village.
All fabrics used are locally made, hand-loomed and vegetable dyed. Double-lined, with a slot at the back to allow easy hanging on a rod/pole. Only one piece.
